NovaPanel

Comparison

NovaPanel vs Plesk

Plesk is the polished alternative to cPanel — better UI, Windows support, Docker integration. It's also the alternative that costs roughly the same as cPanel and runs on the same kind of stack underneath.

NovaPanel is leaner and cheaper. Here's the side-by-side, including the cases where Plesk is still the right call.

Competitor prices checked 29 August 2026 from their published rate cards. Both raised prices in January 2026; if these look out of date, theirs will be current and ours will not.

Where NovaPanel wins

Pricing — by a lot. Plesk's tiered pricing gets steep fast: Web Admin is $16.99/mo for 10 domains, Web Pro $29.99/mo for 30, and Web Host $62.99/mo for unlimited — after an across-the-board rise of around 26% in January 2026. NovaPanel is £4.99/mo flat for unlimited domains, sites, customers. On a typical reseller box you're looking at £50/yr versus £400-500/yr.

Stack feel. Caddy 2 as the reverse proxy with auto-TLS for every domain — no Let's Encrypt configuration, no nginx-on-top-of-Apache layering. Plesk works, but you spend more time in its config screens to do equivalent things.

No tier upsells for basics. WAF, virus scanner, S3 backups, mail accounts — all included in our Pro tier (£4.99/mo). Plesk often gates these behind Web Pro / Web Host upgrades or paid extensions.

Where Plesk still wins

Windows support. We're Linux-only and likely will be for a long time. If you need to host IIS / .NET / SQL Server with a control panel, Plesk is your answer.

Docker integration. Plesk has first-class Docker container management built in. We don't yet — it's on the roadmap but you can't deploy a Docker app through our UI today.

Plugin catalog. Plesk's extension store has years of third-party tools — site builders, security scanners, monitoring agents. We don't have an extension API yet.

Migration tooling. Plesk-to-Plesk migrations are well-trodden. Plesk-to-NovaPanel is manual today: we import cPanel and DirectAdmin account backups, and Plesk's backup format is different enough that the existing reader does not simply extend to it. It is the next format on the roadmap. If you have hundreds of accounts on Plesk, that is worth waiting for.

Realistic switch math

For a Linux box hosting plain LAMP / LEMP sites (no Windows, no Docker workloads), NovaPanel saves around £300-400/year per server versus Plesk Web Pro tier and gets you a noticeably cleaner UI. For Docker-heavy or Windows-mixed environments, stay on Plesk for now — we'll get there but we're not there.
